The Book, Isherat Reading water, has been produced using Marbling, a technique using oil paint floated on water.
This is very appropriate because the book is a poetic version of the technical advice given to sailors in the Philippines.
When sailors navigated without up to date equipment, there were signs that could be observed and used to enable safe traveling on water. There is a fascinating specialised vocabulary used to describe different weathers and waves, so some of these are what I have used for the text.
A concertina folded book is very suitable to indicate the flow of the water on a river or at sea.

Isherat means reading water.
